1000 beetles a fern a crow

I filmed 1000 beetles a fern a crow while I was an artist in residence at Virreina in Colombia. The video was filmed in the environments around San Gil Colombia and in a city park in Bogotá. I shot the Bogotá video in collaboration with Clan Depredador, a group of street performers who dress up like characters from the Predator and Alien film franchises.
The music was created by my friend Huy Phan and me. The lyrics are sung by Clara, a discontinued Spanish language vocaloid. Vocaloid fan communities keep her alive. The lyrics reflect an urge to be reincarnated as a nonhuman lifeform to reexperience Earth from new perspectives.
1000 beetles a fern a crow has been exhibited at Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño in Bogotá, 101 Project Space in Berlin, and at Luzy in Mexico City.
